Genevieve didn’t know fourth grade would be the year that everything changed - and it all started with her mother’s toes and an unsuspecting, wandering dad! This would be the year Gen learns that life is an open book waiting to be written, or is it that life is a stage? Stumbling into a nearby shack with her best friend by her side, Gen finds long-hidden secrets, a path to new friends, and a wild adventure filled with theatrics and newfound improv skills. It’s improbable, but… Will they discover what caused her family to morph into other creatures? Can the girls change them back? Improbable, a middle grade novel from award-winning author and journalist Jennifer Antonik, will have children experimenting with their imaginations and wondering how they can leave a mark just like Lady G and Jewlz. Set in 2021, two remote-learning, fourth-grade students find themselves on a path that leads them back home when Gen’s teacher mysteriously turned into a strange creature. Gen and her best friend Jewel had to find a solution - and fast! Along the way, they discover a legacy of celebrating life and overcoming discrimination by none other than their own grandmothers who were actresses at the local theater. Gen and Jewel soon learn that their grandmothers used the same tools to succeed that they found on their own journey, starting at Lady G’s old, rickety shanty by the stream. The two best friends just needed to use a little bit of creativity and open their minds to new possibilities. Antonik is an award-winning journalist and children’s book author from Delaware where she now raises three beautifully ornery children with her husband of more than a decade. Before writing children’s books, she worked as a community reporter and news editor for local newspapers. She currently works as the public relations coordinator and newspaper editor for the Delaware Farm Bureau. Jennifer graduated from Milford High School in 2002 and went on to graduate from Delaware Technical Community College with an associate degree in Communications Technology and a certificate in American Sign Language from DTCC. She has authored four books since 2020 for children of all ages.
