Start-up ecosystems have sprung up all over the world, but the original is still number one, in terms of access to talent and capital. Silicon Valley has developed its own culture that emphasizes openness and break-through innovation and inspires start-up scenes around the world. The vibe is not for everyone and of course there are challenges, such as the high cost of housing and office space, but between 14,000 and 19,000 start-ups have now settled here. More than half of the entrepreneurs come from around the world, so it makes no difference where in the world you are right now. A good idea is always welcome here - and has a chance of success, provided you play your cards right. In much the same way, learning the essentials of building a start-up as well as profiting from others experiences, is the reason we’ve conducted these interviews and assembled them in this book.
