Alya Lightstar has saved the city of Keldrock but has incidentally inherited the title of Protector from the next heir, Prince Alag Estrellar. Since the Unveiling, a day when the veil keeping the people of Keldrock entirely hidden from the dangers of the outside world, the Guerr army have been locked within their barracks, the tower of light has been destroyed and the veil has faded away for good. Somehow the lives after these horrific events grievously move on. Still with a new way of life come some dreadful effects. The mornowl, a magnificent bird of legend that was once thought to have caused the sun to rise with its glorious song, has turned irate and is allegedly seeking vengeance against Keldrock. This becomes all too personal to Alya when her sister Mira is stolen. That is just the beginning of her troubles. With the duty of protecting the city falling to Alya, it is hard to tell if she will survive or if she will be the worst Protector to ever live, especially with the eyes of the new captain of the guard and the scorned prince on her tail. With some unexpected twists and turns, it is evident that her friendships will be her aid once more, while some will attempt to be her end. One can only wonder if Alya will rise to the occasion and ensure that her world doesn’t become completely unraveled.
