Carolyn and her husband took all the classes, read all the articles and books, and were probably those people who asked all the questions to their care providers. But when Carolyn was handed an empty ketchup bottle right before her first post-delivery shower and wanted to know where the hot dog was, she realized she needed to get to writing, again. From that experience, and a few more, it was evident that there were some grey areas around the adventure that is labor and delivery that might need a little more attention and discussion. Whether over brunch, at a baby shower, or on a subway, she hopes this brings out stories and conversations that normalize and soften the strange and weird that goes along with the incredible (and sometimes scary) experience of labor and delivery.
