Bain Brinley is sixteen and his future has never looked brighter. Moving to Loradin has been a huge positive, not only for him but his family as well. His mother Harper, and father Wilkins, are still concerned about the possibility of being hunted by Commander Raif Martray, the man whose evil plans his mother thwarted. On top of that, rumors of wars are stirring around Zanchier, causing unrest amongst the people. The Zanchieths from each city, and the government officials, continually bicker over the highly sought-after minerals beneath the Zanchier soil, posing a very real threat of the dreaded war rumors.

Bain’s younger brother Seadon has moved to the Praxtingen Airship Academy to learn to fly the newly designed airships. His younger sister Wynne has discovered a gift for speaking to the massive and deadly creatures of Zanchier and has started training at the LARS institute. Bain’s best friend Kreelie Rintel, who still lives in Port Proud, has been unusually standoffish as of late, and Bain fears they are growing apart. Bain has also discovered a few secrets located behind a waterfall in the Carpasian Mountains, which will very soon become important for the safety and wellbeing of the people of Zanchier. Bain, along with his family must fight to save Loradin and the innocent people of Zanchier as greedy, power hungry men try to destroy Zanchier, and one a personal note, his entire family.
