This is a humorous and positive story of the first day of school. Bethany is ready for kindergarten but has some fears. When her big brother warns her not to say anything stupid, she decides to say nothing at all, including her name. When the teacher learns her first name, Bethany doesn’t know for sure what her other name is. After that exciting first day of school her mother tucks her into bed, and Bethany says that she needs another name. Her mother says not to worry about another name and to sleep tight Pumpkin. Bethany decides that Pumpkin is her other name and all is well.
