Almost 30 years ago, I landed in the City of Brotherly Love. I was amazed at my South Philly dwelling, all of the buildings, and the enormity of everything. I met numerous people and we shared many wonderful, joyful, happy, hard, sad, and hurt-filled moments. I began writing these particular poems as a way to escape some of the overwhelming feelings I had, and to help me to understand what I thought was missing within me. This book is a testament to all of those experiences and my desire to fit in, be accepted, and discover "true love." Philadelphia marked the beginning of my journey toward healing and wholeness. This collection of poetry is an invitation into my space, where I am able to just be myself. Hopefully, you are fueled with determination and strength to move through the various transitions and stages of life regardless of how difficult things may appear. May courage encapsulate you as you seek after your heart's truest desire, never ceasing even when it feels as though you are losing. Finally, within your pursuit of life filled with purpose and promises, may you remember to always hold out a hand and help someone else along the way.
