Award-Winning Author Kai Mahalyn Tampol, turns 8 years old and releases her 3rd book, entitled The Letter K and Her Birthday Surprise. Black and Asian, Kai is proud of her heritage and both cultures are reflected in the features of her letter characters. In her third book, Kai continues her story about an alphabet world full of ABC characters with child-like personalities and antics. The story of the letters continues with the alphabet following their new daily routine. The alphabet follows the old rule requiring each letter to stand in the alphabet line, but also added a new rule, which allows the letters time away from the line for fun, thanks to Letter K. Letter K also becomes a new Alphabet Leader, helping the letters engage with the children by computer, after the COVID virus causes the children to study from home. Because Letter K has been the key to all of these adjustments, the letters decide to show their love to their new Alphabet Leader and plan a birthday surprise for her

Kai received the 2020 Story Monster Approved Book Award for her first book published at age 6, entitled, The Little Letter k and the Boring Alphabet Line - winning two categories: First Time Author and Picture Book and the First Place Winner of the 2021 Firebird Award for Picture Book. She released her second book February 2021, a multicultural coloring book entitled, Meet Little Letter k and Her Alphabet Friends (with printable pages).
