In three years as a Watcher, Grace Evans has made a name for herself and is on her way to becoming The Council’s best asset. To protect the future she must also protect the past, making sure history happens as it should and saving mankind from themselves. It’s always a nuanced line to walk, but it’s something the fiercely determined Grace never fails to achieve.

For her next mission, The Council instructs her that she must stop a man named Euan Cameron from rejoining the Jacobite Army and dying in battle at Culloden.

Once Grace arrives in the Scottish Highlands of 1746, it doesn’t take her long to discover that this mission is unlike any she has previously undertaken. Euan is dedicated to his Chief and his clan, with no interest in abandoning his duty no matter what this kind and intriguing stranger has to say. Grace has only a short time to persuade Euan to walk away from a battle she knows will end in his death, and very few options to achieve her goal. She isn’t certain what the consequences of failure are, and she definitely doesn’t want to find out.

As the time for his departure nears and Euan remains steadfast, Grace begins to wonder if her only option to save him and the future is to abandon all of The Council’s rules.
