Travels While On My Journey…Major Trips From My Life, this fourth book in a five-part series, showcases ten entertaining and thoughtful short stories based on major trips I’ve made around the world. I kept detailed journals about my experiences and later converted them into this book.
You will find two stories about separate hunting trips to Africa, where my brother and younger son participated. They had a good time hunting, while I took photos of the wildlife and environment, in addition to keeping a daily journal.
There are three different World Masters track and field championships told about, which took place in South Korea, Australia, and Brazil. I was a participant in all three with very successful outcomes you will find interesting. I’m most proud of my performances while in South Korea during the spring of 2017. Be sure to read that one.
There’s a detailed account of a three-week-long, dangerous, dinosaur fossil-hunting expedition made with a small group of scientists to the remote Andes Mountains of Argentina. During that trip, our team discovered the fossils of ten different dinosaur species from the Triassic Period, around a quarter of a billion years ago, that had never been found before on the earth.
I tell about a fun, salmon fishing trip made with my youngest son, Matt, to British Columbia, Canada. We fished together in cold, rough waters while staying on a floating lodge in a remote area. It was a great trip for both of us.
There is a visit told about that was made with my brother to China, where we explored the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City, both near Beijing. We visited the world-famous, buried terracotta soldiers of Xian that I felt was the highlight of the whole trip. We also traveled west of the large city of Hong Kong to experience the Canton Business Fair.
An exciting trip is detailed that was made to the Central-American country of Belize. After reading it, you may decide to travel there yourself. The jungles, wildlife, Mayan temples, and friendly English-speaking people were all a pleasure to encounter.
There is a story about one of my many trips made to the little island of Bonaire, located about twenty miles off the northeastern coast of Venezuela. It’s one of my favorite places in the world to visit because of its crystal-clear, calm waters for snorkeling and its laid-back way of life.
