Much as he did in his previous work, Our Daily Bread: Exposition of the Readings of Catholic Mass, the author has sought to let Scripture speak for itself. This is again evident in extensive quoting and paraphrasing of the Word, but perhaps more significantly in his taking as guiding principle the Lord’s instruction not to consider beforehand what to say when brought to bear witness to Him (see Mk.13:11).
After reading the chapters of the Gospels three times, Mr. Kurt let the Spirit direct him - writing without revision, trusting entirely in Lord. He found in the individual chapters an organic unity, a movement and meaning of their own, which, along with appropriate exhortation, he here presents for the devout reader. Each chapter is given a descriptive title, and at the end of each chapter is included a short prayer invoking its theme.
The author prays this volume will serve to shed light on the heart of all the Scriptures (CCC 125), the four Gospels.
