In many ways, this book is a follow-on to my previous work, Boom! & Adversity (2018). These poems and reflections are illuminations of a thankfully broken man. Recently having my right leg amputated due to a fall and ensuing infection, and having my kidneys fail with now dialysis, I am definitely suffering grievous injury. Yet, through my ordeal and adversity I have grown in mind and spirit, and am far better for it. I have found that peace and joy are not based on circumstances, but rather come from the spirit and the soul. This being so, equipped with the joy of salvation in my heart and soul, I have managed to be quite content despite the deleterious difficulties I have experienced in the past three years; this includes ten major surgeries to try and save my leg. True, disappointments have been severe at times, but I still rejoice in what the Maker has done for me. This will never change, and for this I am eternally grateful. There is so much beauty in the world, despite its woe and cause for worry. Let us be thankful, and move to a place where love, peace, & hope prevail.Blessings, John D. Emens Marion, Ohio February, 2019
