Those who have never had a dog can be forgiven for thinking that dogs can’t speak, but they do in many different ways and when I met a beautiful woman who couldn’t speak my language, nor I hers, I remembered Floss and the relationship which she gave me. Twenty-five years later I am married to that beautiful woman and I recall the silent struggle and courtship as well as my fight to understand, speak and please her just as Floss did for me. The story of Floss, as she might have told it, is one of endurance, love, fear, pain and pleasure. Perhaps my end will be like the one that awaited her. Pleasure and peace, knowing that life had been full. Both Floss and I have had those who wished to kill, maim and destroy in our lives. The ‘foxes’ so real and vile for Floss are still around but in different forms. The years which have passed have not diminished my memories of her quiet, joyful ways. Perhaps we can all learn something. Life didn’t pass her by and what she gave me during those marvelous years I still keep and pass to others. But enough! Let Floss tell you her story.
