I was born 1948 in a small town in the Northwest of Ireland called Coleraine. My parents where both Scots who came to the Province for different reasons, my father Douglas or Jock as he was known locally got a posting after being rescued from Dunkirk, my mother Helen was sent to my great grandmother Miller who lived in a small village outside Coleraine. My mother had previously lived in Glasgow with her Mum who after losing her husband a seaman who was apparently was washed overboard and drowned had a new relationship and my mum was conveniently shipped off to Ireland. she met my dad, got married, settled in Coleraine and started to populated the earth with lots of brothers and sisters, eleven in total. My book is about the poverty, the struggle during my early days growing up. It is a rags to riches story which I hope you find hope and inspiration from.
