A 15 year old teenager joins the local National Guard, and just as his unit begins training, he and his buddies are sworn in to the newly activated full-time unit of the U.S. Army. He goes on an adventure to train for war in the Pacific battles of World War II. He sees combat on Guadalcanal, Luzon and New Georgia, and goes to Japan as part of the occupying forces after Japan's surrender.
