This small book consists of a hodgepodge of extremely personal essays, initially written over the past decade and now edited to reflect current conditions, public attitudes or my own opinions. I wanted these essays to inform, not to persuade. When I occasionally offer advice, it is with the pronounced admission that I 'know" nothing and that what I offer is my own beliefs. I have no authority to exact belief, nor do I desire to do so, for I do not feel myself to be well enough instructed to instruct others.
