A Promise for Democracy. In 1989 The communist regime acted with force to suppress the student revolt of Tiananmen square but was unable to break the democratic spirit of its people. During the protest, Sun Yang and her student friend volunteered to help the injured students running away from the armed forces. In the middle of the revolution, a tourist bus was wrongly crushed by the riot police, an American student whose father was one of the richest men in America. The youngster was hit several times because he wouldn't give up his camera. A young volunteer nurse, came to rescue him and managed to stop the bleeding to save Mark's life. The two strangers while smiling with tears in their eyes, fall passionately in love with each other. Unfortunately, the armed forces force them apart. Yet, destiny will lead Sun Yang and Mark to meet again at Stanford University where they pledge their love till the end of time.
