Xona, the deposed and outlawed former universal dictator is forced into hiding in the slums of the backwater planet of Cordayia. There she remains far from the reach from those who would put her in chains and re-evaluates her life, determined to become a better person. Despite possessing powers from a mystic particle that give her Godlike abilities, Xona knows that each time she uses them she grows weaker. Now, however, with her daughter Zeniyah kidnapped, she is forced from her refuge to try to save her. Her efforts lead her into an unexpected alliance with Captain Michael Stratford, a highly decorated officer of the Deltacore fleet who is carrying out an investigation into attacks on cargo freighters. With his help, Xona is certain that they can locate Zeniyah and release her from her captives before they use her own supernatural powers for their own ends. But Stratford has his own problems.
