This is a book of poems, written from the imagined point of view of Biblical characters, for each day of Lent. In an attempt to look at these events in a new way, each poem is accompanied by the portrait of a 21st century people. Several poems present a personified point of view of places or objects, such as the sun and Golgotha. The seven poems for each Sunday of Lent are written in sonnet form, and the forty poems for the weekdays of Lent are written in what I call a hemi-sonnet form. The first five Sunday sonnets are personal reflections, and the last two present the voices of God and the Holy Spirit. The book concludes with an eighth sonnet which invites Jesus' voice.
