Didi is a typical teenager living in 600 B.C. Jerusalem. Being the youngest of five girls, she lives under the dynamics of the different personalities of her sisters, while dreaming of the man she will someday marry. Then one day, the sons of an old family friend arrive, and turn her world upside down with an invitation to join their family, in search of a place where they can live their religion in peace. She secretly likes the youngest son, Nephi, but to go with his family means leaving the comforts she and her family enjoy in Jerusalem. Surprisingly, her family chooses to leave the city, and travel into the wilderness in search of a new land and home. The family begins to adapt to a nomadic lifestyle, and Didi must discover who she is and what she truly believes in. As the family threatens to break apart, she feels the pressures of trying to survive physically, and understand and support a husband who is eons ahead of her spiritually. Ultimately, she must choose the path her heart and soul will take, knowing her choices will affect her life's direction and that of her children. It is the story of any woman's experience of self-discovery and growth.
