The people of Port Sydney and Mary Lake upon which it is located were unique. They arrived with the first rush of settlers. They were also well educated and were characters . Yes the area followed the usual pattern …lumbering, the era of the lodges and eventually cottagers and their supporting trades….but the community left its indelible mark in its development because of these unique people. I hope that I have been able to demonstrate this in the book. This book is meant to follow the other two books: ‘These Memories I Leave to You and the Newcomers The selection of material is thus limited to: What is available. What has not been dealt with in these previous books. I hope that you enjoy the stories.
