The little bird had a big name. It was pronounced Cal-li'o-pe. She had an extra tail feather and could not fly.
One day she was running around her nest trying to get air under her wings for lift-off - but she ran too close to the edge and fell into the yard where the yellow cat lived.
Unable to get back into the nest she would have to stay on the ground until she could fly. But the night was dark and cold and the grass was wet and the cat was hungry.
