Darion Younger had planned a life of galactic exploration and study. While on a space flight with his mother and sister, his ship was attacked, and he was sold into slavery on a distant planet. After many years, war came to the colony, and he was forced into combat. After the war, he was sold to a merchant who allowed him to work part-time at a spaceport. He was again abducted by spacers to be again sold onto another planet. On the ship, he led a revolt and gained control of the ship. Darion took the ship back to the original slave colony and managed to free many of his fellow slaves. When they attempted to leave, the ship was fired upon by the Space Security and damaged. The ship managed to make the jump into hyperspace but, because of the damage, could not drop back out. They continued, unable to stop for a few hundred days, until the ship fell into the gravitational grasp of a black hole that flung them into an alternate universe. A benevolent humanoid race rescued them and helped them recover after their ordeal. The alien species gave them another ship in exchange for a gift from each member of the ship’s company. They then departed and spent years trying to find their way back to their own universe and the system that they had left. During this time, they encountered other species and had many adventures before finding their way.
