Many people say music is their escape. Well, for me, my truest escape was poetry. It was my only release from the cage I was placed in at seventeen. Most seventeen-year-olds are chasing females or preparing for the big game. I was preparing for prison. Now, in no way is this something to brag about, but it’s a fact. While stuck in a cell with nothing inside of me but anger, pain, loss, and betrayal, I needed a release. It came in the form of writing. By writing, I wrote my story.
