These short stories are about the journey called life. There are Native American stories, Asian stories, Southern stories, and a collection of others that teach life’s lessons.

I have had an interesting journey thus far, growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, and joining the Marines at seventeen. I served three tours in Vietnam and was at the Mayaguez recapture of the ship and crew. I currently live on the Big Island of Hawaii in Kurtistown.

I collected these stories that are viewed through the eyes of different cultures on my journeys throughout the world while in the Marines and as a civilian.

Many of the Native American stories were passed down from generation to generation by my mother, an Iroquois Indian. My father was multi-cultural, and as we would say in Hawaii, a poi dog culture.

The Asia stories came from my travels in Asia, while my Southern upbringing is the basis of other tales. Some are meant to guide and direct our actions on our journey through life, while others attempt to explain the meaning of life and the hereafter.

Col. Chuck Sanders is a disabled combat veteran of the Vietnam War. I have a beautiful, understanding, and patient wife named Maraia Kalani Sanders from Waianae, Hawaii. Our son Troy lives with us here on our small farm where we raise chickens and sheep, goats, pigs, and rabbits, and have several dogs. We spend a lot of time helping other veterans with their Veteran’s Administration claims. Both my wife and I having been Marines. Our son is currently serving in the Hawaii Air Guard. This is his fourth book.
