In the final days of World War II in the South Seas, Skipper Shawn Leslie leaves the scene of a downed pilot and pushes his 63-foot crash boat to the limit, heading toward a remote island as a Jap Zero screams through the clouds, bullets raking over the aft deck.
The small island has sheer rock cliffs rising 400 feet above the sea. Nowhere to hide. Shawn races toward one small patch of greenery seemingly growing out of solid rock, desperation mocking common sense.
Trenton, New Jersey, 1957: Raped by her stepfather since she was eleven, at thirteen Gina vanishes into the night, making sure not to leave a trail. Disguised as a boy, she hitches a ride with a trucker, whose destination is Henry’s Yacht Anchorage on Terminal Island in Wilmington, California.
Lucky Wright has woven a story of deep friendship among three teenage girls from different walks of life. Gina and Brook discover a sensual attraction toward each other that closely binds them as the three adventure to a remote South Pacific island in search of a lost legacy.
