Spending time with a dead guy, being interrogated by the cops, and getting stitched up by a cute ER doc weren’t exactly what private investigator Kimberly Murphy had planned for the evening… Especially the part about getting caught standing over a dead body-again. Only this one definitely wasn’t her fault. Being a PI has put Kim into more than a few suspicious situations. This time, though, she may not find a way out. Just once she’d like homicide detective Grant Tompkins not to assume she is guilty. The last time had been self-defense, but she doubted he’d believe her innocence this time. Ignoring her interest in Grant and her family’s strong opinions, Kim agrees to help the victim’s mother and searches for the real killer. Though she’d rather stay away from the case, she has a tarnished reputation to save. To clear her slightly smeared name, Kim does her job and goes after the clever killer. Too bad Kim’s efforts lead to dead ends and even more dead bodies. She will need all her skills and a bit of luck to outwit a murderer who’d like to put an end to Kim’s meddling permanently.
