David is probably the greatest example from the Old Testament of a true servant of God. Moses was great, but David's humility sets him apart and above. David was God-centered; that's the way he lived, thought, acted (mostly), sang. Today, with the occupation in our hearts by Holy Spirit, we too can be God-centered. Morning, noon and night, we can say like David:

"Lift up the Light of Your Countenance upon us, O LORD! You have put gladness in my heart, more than when their grain and new wine abound. In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for You alone, O LORD, make me to dwell in safety." (Psalm 4:6-8)

Do you know why I think David was such a popular song-writer? Because the people knew they would be hearing the Voice of God through his songs.
