Karen Karnatz is a mortician with over 20 years of experience in death care. While she has fulfilled many roles during her time in funeral service, it is in creating and executing celebrations of life that she found her purpose. She currently manages several funeral homes and cemeteries. During a therapy session, Karen Karnatz realized she was an emotional eater and it made her sad to think about losing that behavior. Once she recognized there was grief involved, she knew she needed an opportunity to mourn. As a life-long dieter, facing her grief was the one thing she had never tried. An expert in creating funeral ceremonies, Karen set about to create a similar ritual to mourn with intention the loss of her emotional crutch. She wrote Fire Under the Night Sky as a tool to help others let go of something that no longer serves them.
