Bucolic is the story of Libelle Jameson, a girl who has it all in the quiet town of Fairsage. She was okay with remaining ignorant and shielded from the real world, that is, until Caden Carlton moved in from the rivaling town over. Libelle finds herself captivated by the only source that makes her feel truly alive: a boy with a haunting past that has come creeping back up, exposing her to the harsh realities of the real world. Some souls are too far gone, but does that mean she shouldn’t try and save him regardless?
This is a story about a girl who wants to make the same 180 for the boy who did that for her, but Libelle fails to realize that some things are determined on swallowing us whole and wearing us down until there’s no strength left to fight it. When Caden moved to town, Libelle found herself drawn to his abnormal behavior, as he was quiet, closed off, constantly looking over his shoulder with reddened eyes, and high off of God-knows-what. She always knew that there were people starving, abused, depressed, and homeless in the world, but she never had to face that harsh reality. Thanks to him she realized that life wasn’t perfect, and that people can be far more flawed than they seem on the surface. No matter how big the shovel, deep the hole, or heavy the dirt-the past can’t be buried. Nevertheless, this won’t stop Libelle from at least trying.
