Journey to the Eye of Newt

When ten-year-old Nirjery Webber arrives in the U.S. from India, trouble greets her. Kids tease her about her Indian culture, she can’t make friends, there’s conflict with her mom, and absence seizures caused by epilepsy complicate everything. Just when she feels like she’s juggling fireballs, she buys a newt at a yard sale. Turns out, he’s no ordinary newt. He’s a two-foot talking, dancing magical newt. Unfortunately, he cannot stay. Danger is lurking in his land, and he has important business there. To help the newt return to his home in Newt Land, Nirjery calls on Goddess Lakshmi. Soon though, with problems growing at home, Nirjery decides to follow him. It seems like the perfect solution. But if she thinks things are going to be easy in Newt Land, she’d better think again: Doc Newton’s regeneration cure has gone wonky, the Eye of Newt is missing, and evil forces are plotting a takeover.
