Emily Jane Bronte (1818-1848) was an English novelist and poet. Together with her sisters and fellow-novelists, Charlotte (Jane Eyre) and Anne (The Tenant of Wildfell Hall), Emily is part of one of the most remarkable families in literary history. She died tuberculosis at about the same time as her siblings, Branwell and Anne. "Wuthering Heights" (1847) is Emily's only novel. Although at its core is the passionate, possessive love between Catherine Earnshaw and the foundling Heathcliff, it is rather the story of Heathcliff's vengeance, as he seeks to destroy the families of those who have wronged him. This book is in the Deseret Alphabet, a phonetic alphabet for writing English developed in the mid-19th century at the University of Deseret (now the University of Utah).
