Chipper the chimp is very sad. He wants to learn how to tie his shoes so that he can be like his big brother, Lou, who is older and quicker and very bright. Their mom is proud of Lou, and Chipper wants her to be proud of him too. The young chimp sets out to visit some of the animals he knows in the jungle. He goes to the lion in his den, the wise old owl up in a tree, and a crafty snake, but none of his friends can help him. Then his brother comes to the rescue with some kind words-that their mother is proud of both of them and loves them very much. Lou helps Chipper understand that all he needs to worry about is being the best Chipper that he can be. In this children's story, a young chimpanzee wants to be more like his older brother but learns instead to focus on being the best at being himself.
