Princess Alice is eleven years old, and she longs for freedom. She wants to run around with her hair loose and free, climb trees, explore the nearby mountains, and say what she wishes. Just before her twelfth birthday, the princess runs away from the castle and goes on her own to the mountains. She tries to build her own home using sticks and branches but doesn't have much success.
