It’s a nice spring day outside, but Harry can’t go anywhere because there is a terrible virus called COVID-19 spreading in his community. Everyone in Melbourne, Australia, has to stay home, Harry included, which makes him feel lonely-until he sees a little housefly walking around on his coffee table. This little housefly becomes Harry’s friend as they enjoy a snack together, take a nap, and even dance to music. Harry doesn’t feel so lonely anymore, and the little housefly seems to enjoy flying around Harry’s house and having fun. The COVID-19 pandemic is hard on everyone, adults and children alike, but kids can have it particularly rough since they can’t see their friends and play. Harry, COVID-19, and the Friendly Little Housefly is about feeling lonely and isolated from other people, but it also teaches children that they can find friendship and joy even in the midst of unprecedented times.
