The Colonists who began settling in the United States in the 1600s came here for three main reasons: 1) to escape religious persecution; 2) to escape repression; and 3) for better economic opportunity. It is not coincidental the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States were written to provide us with the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Our founding fathers wrote the Constitution to insure the people and not the government had the power. It is a hell of a document that is brilliantly written. In America's history, the Constitution has never been abused as it is being abused today by those who want to turn America into a Marxist nation. Abraham Lincoln said, "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves." Ronald Reagan said, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. If we lose this way of freedom, history will record with the greatest astonishment that those who had the most to lose did the least to prevent its happening.
