A Leader with Courage: The Impact of Congresswoman Cardiss Collins is a book for young readers about the late Congresswoman Cardiss Collins, who served in Congress for 24 years, representing the West Side of Chicago. She was a Black female trailblazer, the fourth Black woman to serve in Congress. Collins was a champion for women's rights, reproductive health, and the rights of Black people. Collins entered Congress following the tragic death of her husband, Congressman George Collins, and she ran for his vacant seat, keeping alive his legacy.
