Twelve-year-old Sarah and her two younger brothers had a difficult but tolerable life until that 1954 day they watched their step-father drive away with their mother, leaving them to fend for themselves in their rural Arkansas home. The feisty Sarah is determined to reunite her family but falls prey to the unthinkable. This inspirational story of resilience and reunion does not disappoint.

Carl P. "Buster" Hitt is a cranky, single, retired old man who worked for 25 years in various positions at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He has a daughter (former member of the band Twister Alley) who teaches college, a sister and brother-in-law who retired from two major retailers' home offices, a deceased father who was a well driller, a deceased mother who was a country singer and musician, and a deceased uncle who was a regular performer on the Grand Ole Opry. Carl served four years in the United States Air Force on Okinawa, in Korea, and in Washington state. He has a BA and MA in sociology, and his hobbies include photography, documentary filmmaking, and writing. He has also met Dolly Parton four times. You can learn more about Carl or contact him on his website: www.carlhitt.com
