I have written important letters for all of us to read… My name is Hubert Severe. I have written letters because I see so many areas in America and in the world that need to be changed. Personally, I have been treated in a special way for too long. I’m black and I can’t do anything about it. I have decided that the only thing I can do is to do things the right way. I worked in New York for three years. I worked for one year of delivery service. That year was horrible. Sometimes, I have been treated like a criminal. Every nation in the world has done good and bad things; things that are right and things that are wrong. Black people seem to have won the trophy for evil treatment. Part of this is because many of us don’t respect ourselves. The truth sometimes hurts, but the only way to beat evil is to do things the right way. We have many black people who have great jobs and have become famous and rich. However, some of them have discovered money doesn’t bring happiness. My black brothers and sisters, we are not afraid of white people, we are just afraid of ourselves. Look at the life many of us are living. We may not have a lot of money, but we are enjoying a relaxed life. Our children can play safely in our neighborhoods and we can enjoy playing dominoes or cards on our front porches. What can I do to be in the game, Hubert? Listen, brothers and sisters, it is very simple: We just need to work together. We need to respect each other. We need to support each other. We need to appreciate each other. We need to love each other. We need to do things the right way so we can bring about change. This book is a collection of letters I have written to various groups in an effort to make suggestions to make people of all races embrace a better life for themselves and for the next generation, especially in the United States of America. To achieve the most benefit from this book, I suggest you read all of these letters. Do not judge me, just take what applies to your life and do what is right to bring about the change in your area of influence.
