Paul follows his introduction with a greeting to the Roman church and expresses his desire to preach in Rome someday. Paul gives a summary of the theme of his letter: The Gospel…is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.
The Jewish Christians found they were not the minority within a Gentile church. Paul therefore wrote Romans to encourage the Gentiles to live in harmony with Jewish Christians. Unlike Galatia, it is possible that the only Gentile converts in Rome were God-fearing Gentiles and quite happy with most Jewish practices. These Gentiles we’re happy and comfortable with living under the Jewish culture and lifestyle. Converting to Christianity means that you are turning away from evil and more toward the good of this world.
The just shall live by faith according to Galatians 3:11 and Romans 1:17. The emphasis Martin Luther placed on the Gospel truth in the sixteenth century resulted in the Protestant Reformation. This doctrine of justification by faith brought new life into the Church and became one of the central teachings of the evangelical churches. An understanding of this concept will result in a deeper appreciation of the grace of God, as it comes to us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Added note of today: Our young people is how we will live and grow up our future generations. Preachers, let’s preach the word today. Every life, all lives-Black, Brown, White, Yellow lives-matter. Faith is our guide.
