Cataclysmic Events

This collection of poetry responds to the lament of Rumi in From the World of Mysteries where he beseeches the wind to bring him a scent of the sweet perfume of the beloved, to bring him a letter written with love. These poems are those letters written with love; these poems bring the sweet scent of the beloved to fill the air and soothe the senses. Emphasizing rhythm, atmosphere, color, and space, these poems offer an immediacy of experience. They are moments of transcendence and tranquility as expressed through natural atmospheric and geologic phenomenon: a sunrise over a sacred mountain, a room lit by candle and firelight, moonlight shimmering on the waters of a beloved river, or the magnificent morning sun flooding through a window, magically lighting up the room. These moments of living life and our remembrance of it give identity to our authentic selves, reminding us of the importance of connecting with each other and the importance of self connecting with the Great Oneness.
