On The Backs of Donkeys

Eleven-year-old Royce is a different kind of boy. The different thing about him has kept him out of school since second grade. It makes others skittish to be around him. His best pal is his donkey, Chrissy, with whom, through the grace of World-Maker, he has a special understanding. They were inseparable. But, just as Royce is about to give school another go, a new boy, Chad, moves to town and befriends him. Chad brings challenging changes that threaten Royce’s relationship with Chrissy. Those challenges, along with some astonishing revelations, force Royce to wrestle with the meaning of friendship, belonging, and the gift of being weird.
