What do you do when it seems everything is going wrong?

My grandmother died in 1949, when I was 15. I often wondered how she could be so happy when she had been widowed with four small children while she was six months’ pregnant with her fifth child. She went through many hard times when I knew her. She was not religious, but she had a strong faith in her Creator.

Grandma liked to help and encourage people however she could. She spent her childhood in a world of mostly Indians, later traveling to Colorado with her young family in a covered wagon. She then spent several years as a single mother, and later two of her sons fought in World War II. It is my prayer that her story will still encourage people to trust the Lord in every situation and sing when they don’t know what else to do.
