It would seem strange to some and maybe even offensive to others that a spiritual leader would write a book entitled Too Sexual to be Sensible. Yet, I ask, who would be a more appropriate author to address this subject than me? I consider this to be especially true, being that in the eyes of God, sexual relations are reserved for married people.

Obviously, it would be foolish of us to believe that only married people are sexually active. However, it is written in Hebrews 13:4, Marriage is honorable among all, and the bed undefiled; but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. This scripture is one of the many biblical confirmations of God’s approval of appropriate sexual relations as well as His disapproval of inappropriate ones. Simply put, even when it comes to sex, God has certain requirements and certain restrictions. It is a demand for purity. Likewise, this verse serves as proof that sexual relations are and can be wholesome.

Then, we can also look at 1st Corinthians 7:3, which states, Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise the wife also to her husband. This verse not only validates and restates God’s approval, but it also shows that proper sexual relations between a husband and wife are encouraged through the Word of God. Spouses have an obligation to maintain a healthy sex life so that neither partner will be tempted to go outside of the marriage to find sexual fulfillment. When one partner continuously deprives their spouse of sexual fulfillment, it may make them begin to wonder, which in turn may cause them to wander.
