When five-year-old Nicole, already caught in the middle of her parents' contested divorce, returns home from a visit to her mother with accountings of sexual abuse, her father is awarded full custody following the bitter court battle.

Twelve years later, Nicole asks the trial's forensic evaluator for a copy of the video recordings he made as part of his assessment so long ago. She had since forgotten about the abuse, only for the recordings to start to trigger her memory. This recalled memory turns Nicole into the subject of an investigation orchestrated by a morally corrupt memory researcher who will do anything to find evidence to support her own agenda.
