Quiana was born a regular, healthy baby girl. She was a normal toddler, normal school-age child. It was in her early teenage years when circumstances began to change. Quiana was all of a sudden thrust into a strange world that would become her life. At the tender age of thirteen, she was diagnosed with a rare, sometimes fatal brain ailment. After this diagnosis, it was as if Quiana couldn’t catch a break. One after another, the disorders, diagnosis, distress, and the chaos that came along poured in. Over the years, she was diagnosed with six other ailments. Some of them being rare, leaving doctors and Quiana baffled. Quiana has spent countless days and nights in hospital beds. At one time, she had to spend an entire summer at Children’s Hospital. Test, test, more test, mild surgery, and a vast assortment of medications have become Quiana’s life. She can barely function on a daily basis without some of her medications, leaving her to sometimes think, Why me? But despite all of Quiana’s ailments, she remains positive. She has fought through everything and has accepted her circumstances. She is humbled and strives to be a glimmer of light for others, helping others as much as she possibly can.
