Late one warm January afternoon, nine strangers rode into the town of Florence, Arizona. They had travelled many miles through dangerous Apache country, looking for a place to settle and start a new life.

For there was one man who, as he watched them ride into town, had decided to kill each and every one of them. A most respected citizen of Florence, he was a man who for many years had been harbouring a secret grudge - which only the deaths of these nine would erase - and this made him one of the most dangerous killers the West had ever known.
