My story?

It's my set of scars that walk around with me!

My Scars, My Brave Adventure is the story of a real little girl who went through not one, not two, but eight pediatric surgeries that gave her eight different scars. Rather than hide her scars, she wears them proudly to show her courage and to remind us all that it's okay to talk about our differences. This sweet, rhyming book encourages kids and adults to embrace what makes us different and to celebrate our own individual stories!

About the Author . . . Katy Green is the author of My Scars, My Brave Adventure, a book inspired by her daughter's journey through numerous pediatric surgeries and medical procedures. This is Katy's first children's book. Prior to becoming an author, Katy worked as a special education teacher earning national board certification. She is a former Division 1 college athlete, a wife, and the mother to three children. As a mother and former educator, Katy knows the power that books can inspire in children, teaching important lessons, and bringing awareness to difficult topics. Katy lives in Chicago where she loves to run along Lake Michigan, indulge in the city's many culinary treats, and spend time at the parks and museums with her husband and children.

About the Illustrator . . . Vanessa Kuiper grew up on an organic farm in Wisconsin, where she and her five siblings were homeschooled. She currently lives in the Milwaukee area with her husband, Tyler. All her life, she has been passionate about her art and has created custom art and portraits for her friends, family, and other clients. She now enjoys creating children's book illustrations in a wide variety of styles using both digital and traditional media and she continues to pursue ways to expand her creative portfolio and career. She continues to thank God for all her gifts and blessings.
