Andrew Thomas, the Rainworth Downs High School geography teacher, is trying to instill environmental values in his students. Perhaps not his best idea since this small outback town is full of graziers and miners. Some of the townsfolk appreciate his love of the spectacular landscape of the nearby Carnarvon National Park. But how much of Andrew’s green politics can they accept? And why do people keep calling him Streuth? When Cassandra Alvos arrives in town, things start heating up, especially on the tennis court. Who is this Spanish beauty and where did she learn to play like that? Andrew, no slouch with a forehand himself, is determined to find out. But Cassie is elusive, why did she come to this tiny place a good 500 kilometers from anywhere notable? Is there a dark secret in her past? Do they have a connection?
