Meredith, or Mere, the narrator with her friends begin to recover from the shock of it. They find, two people, she and the others were beginning to count on are taken another night to the dark planet too. She sees the planet, and freaky robots, but not the aliens. However, Starlynnians, spirit beings of Nystar, don’t want her to know much about their misguided watch-wards, the Nystarians. Not only are there these Spirit beings, interfering with the Earthlings, but there is another group of aliens that can pass from invisible to visible who are helping the Earthlings left on Earth. They remain invisible, but they help the traumatized Earthlings. Mere and her friends find comfort from those around them and a makeshift government, called the Command, but all realize people are still being taken. She, her friends, and the Command pool their resources to stop the abductions and hopefully find a way to bring Earth’s people home. Meanwhile they are trying to avoid being taken to Nystar, the Dark Planet in the process.
